Evergreen Oak Electric: A Chicagoland Fixture for Over 45 Years

On January 24, 1964, Richard B. Caesar founded Evergreen Oak Electric Supply and Sales Company, with ambitions to become the premier electrical distribution partner for electrical contractors throughout Chicagoland. Today, Evergreen Oak Electric is suburban Chicago’s largest independent distributor of lighting and electrical supplies, trusted by thousands of electrical professionals, developers, building managers and homeowners for our friendly, responsive service.

It’s been a wonderful journey since our humble beginnings. Here are some of our milestones over the years:

1964

Our first location was established at 4957 W. 95th St. in Oak Lawn, Illinois, near the border of Evergreen Park, another south Chicago suburb. The location was important to the Company’s history in that Evergreen Oak Electric’s name is an amalgamation of the two town’s names.

1969

We moved our operations to 13400 S. Cicero Ave. in Crestwood, Illinois, site of our current corporate headquarters. A new division, Crest Lighting, was formed to serve the decorative lighting needs of builders, developers, and retail customers.

1976

Evergreen Oak Electric Supply and Sales Company attracted the interest of an investor group with majority ownership held by the Kramer Family. Staying true to Mr. Caesar’s vision of service and reliability, the company flourished and expanded to six locations in the Chicago area.

1977

We opened our Orland Park location.

1982

We opened our Lisle location.

1987

We opened our Chicago location.

1990

We lit the First Midwest Bank Ampitheatre (formerly the World Music Theater), as well as the K Concourse of O’Hare International Airport.

1992- 1995

We lit the Empress Casino (’92), the United Center (’94) and Orland Square Mall (’95).

1996

We opened our New Lenox location.

1997

We lit Chicago Motor Speedway and Route 66 Raceway.

2001

We opened our Naperville location. We also remodeled our corporate headquarters in Crestwood.

2002- 2009

We lit the new town hall for the Village of Arlington Heights (’02); various areas at Brook Field Zoo, including the swamp, Regenstein Wolf Woods, and Seven Seas (’03); Millenium Park (’04); the Soldier Field parking lot (’05); Trump Tower (’05); Chicago Music & Dance at Navy Pier (’05); Central DuPage Hospital (’06); the McCormick Place expansion (’07); CBS Broadcast Center (’08); Green Hills Public Library (’08); and the Sherman Medical Building (’09).

Evergreen Oak Electric and Crest Lighting have grown significantly in scope and in reach, but our corporate mission remains unchanged since 1964. We are committed to continuous improvement, guided by the fundamental values of teamwork and mutual respect for the employee, customer, and vendor.

We invite you to visit us in person, and though our web site, and welcome your feedback and questions. We look forward to showing you that Evergreen Oak Electric Supply and Sales Company is “Your Source for Everything Electrical."
